Reasons why you should not have a strong emotional attachment to a playmobil man called Simon

1. It's kind of weird.

2. You will get very upset when he goes missing.

3. It's actually more than kind of weird, especially at your age.

This is my advice to others; it's too late for me. I was just thinking in the midst of my emotional meltdown upon realising he wasn't where I thought he was, it's been ten years since I got Simon. I hope he turns up soon.

Oh my god, I've got a photograph of him. What is actually wrong with me?

Do you want the short answer or the long explanation?

  2. I'm not sure I know anybody called Jon? Unless you did history at Sheffield, in which case I fully remember our Wurzels duets in a Paris youth hostel to a stunned audience of fellow Communards and our lecturer. But judging by the link on your name, you are not him (or your career has taken a very eccentric turn).

Either way, yes, I would be interested in your analysis of my character flaws, as detailed as you like.

  3. I was, of course, being facetious. I would have to look in the mirror and ask the same question. Total honesty would be painful. You, on the other hand, are better than "normal" and way more interesting, which is exactly why I read your stuff. Don't mind me! Some day I would like to hear of your escapades in Paris, though.

  4. Haha, I was totally joking, don't worry! My third-year Paris trip probably doesn't fall under the remit of this blog (if it has a remit? I did post about Simon, after all), but just imagine a lot of students + all-you-can-drink restaurant. The answer is: not learning much about the Paris Commune.

  5. Hi Abi,

I just want to tell you I also have an unhealthy attachment to my playmobil man. He is the star of almost all my images on my website and has earned me some very strange looks when we go out and about for a photo-shoot. Yeah it is a bit weird I know but I think he compliments my bog enough that I just get over it. I'm sorry to hear about Simon, I hope he turns up soon. if you don't already have him :)
